November 4, 2024 (Framingham, MA): In accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, 603 CMR 23.06 (3), the Framingham Public Schools will be destroying records of special education students who graduated, transferred, withdrew, or aged out as of June 2016 and June 2017.
Special Education records that have been collected by the Framingham Public Schools related to the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or provision of Special Education in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of seven years after Special Education services have ended for the student. Special Education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, moves from the district or completes their educational program at age 22.
Students who wish to receive their personal student files should call the Department of Special Education at (508) 626-9123 between 9 am and 3 pm Monday through Friday no later than November 15, 2024. Files will be made available for pick-up from November 18, 2024 - November 22, 2024. A state-issued form of identification will be required to retrieve records.
